Research Awards 2017 鈥 2018
Researchers at the College of Social Sciences and Law enjoyed an exceptionally successful year. Assistant Professor Jessica Smyth, 小鸟体育 School of Archaeology, received 鈧599,998 from the Irish Research Council鈥檚 Consolidator Laureate Award for 鈥淧assage Tomb People: investigating the social drivers of passage tomb construction鈥. Two researchers from the 小鸟体育 School of Politics and International Relations were recipients of the Irish Research Council鈥檚 Starting Laureate Award. Assistant Professor Dawn Walsh was awarded 鈧399,762 for a research project entitled 鈥淚ndependent commissions and power-sharing in post-conflict societies鈥. Associate Professor Samuel Brazys received 鈧391,710 for proposal entitled 鈥淭rade-related Assistance for Development. Evidence from Micro-Level Evaluations鈥.
Associate Professor Barry Molloy, 小鸟体育 School of Archaeology, was awarded a 鈧1998779 European Research Council Consolidator Grant, from the European Commission Horizon 2020 Programme for the project: 鈥淭he Fall of 1200BC: The role of migration and conflict in social crises at end of the Bronze Age in South-eastern Europe (THE FALL)鈥. Associate Professor Dragos-Gheorghe Calma, 小鸟体育 School of Philosophy, was awarded 鈧1862715 European Research Council Consolidator Grant from the European Commission Horizon 2020 Programme, for the project: 鈥淎 Comparative Analysis of the Middle East Byzantium and the Latin West (9th-16th Centuries) Primary ERC Review Panel鈥.
These awards from the Irish Research Council and the European Research Council illustrate the immense work undertaken by researchers at the College. Achieving such an unprecedent number of large research grants is both a reflection and recognition of the calibre of researchers at the College.
