Responsible AI is everyone’s responsibility

When you look in the mirror, what do you see? Now think about how AI might reflect you, and the society in which you live. How can we make sure AI reflects fairly for all? This was the basis of a provocative thought experiment that Reggie Townsend, VP of the Data Ethics Practice at SAS, put to an audience at 小鸟体育 earlier this month.

In his keynote at the AI and Responsible Conduct of Research symposium,Townsend dug deep to unearth the troubling power dynamics at the heart of global AI development, and to ask the important questions needed now for a more equitable, trustworthy approach.

The 小鸟体育 Institute for Discovery was honoured to co-host Prof. Akram Alshawabkeh, Senior Vice Provost, and Director, PROTECT Superfund Research Center, at Northeastern University in September alongside the 小鸟体育 Insight Centre for Data Analytics.
Akram has led PROTECT, a pan-American consortia research program, which aims to understand how chemicals can lead to adverse pregnancy outcomes, including preterm birth and impaired fetal growth, in Puerto Rico.
